SPYRUS LYNKS Series II HSM Receives FIPS 140-2 Level 2 Overall Validation with Level 3 Physical Validation
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 20, 2006 – SPYRUS®, Inc. (www.spyrus.com) a leader in high-assurance security products, announced today that the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) validated the LYNKS™ Series II Hardware Security Module (HSM) as fully satisfying the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 overall validation requirements for Level 2, with Level 3 validation in physical security, design assurance and electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
The FIPS 140-2 validation applies to ten configuration models, providing a variety of memory capacities in both PC card and USB form factors. LYNKS Series II HSM delivers a cost-effective solution for Certificate Authority (CA) and Registration Authority (RA) key operations, digital signatures and key recovery functions.
The LYNKS Series II HSM supports the widest range of cryptographic algorithms in a commercially available device, including triple DES, AES, DSA, ECMQV, ECDH, ECDSA, RSA, SHA-1, SHA-224, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512, and features FIPS 140-2 approved and certified random number generation. These capabilities comprise all services defined under the NSA Suite B cryptographic algorithm set, providing future proof data protection for sensitive and even classified data in commercial and government applications.
The LYNKS Series II enables security-aware capabilities such as user authentication, email digital signatures and encryption, secure storage and protection of root CA keys in rugged, tamper-evident hardware.
