High Assurance and User Friendly, Rosetta® USB Token is First to Receive FIPS 140-1 Level 3 and Microsoft WHQL Qualification
FIPS Certification and WHQL Qualification Position Rosetta USB as High Assurance and Consumer Ready
SAN JOSE, CA - September 12, 2001 - SPYRUS®, Inc. today announced that its Rosetta USB token became the first USB-based cryptographic token to ever receive the NIST Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Pub 140-1 Level 3 certification. In addition, the Rosetta USB token was Windows Hardware Qualification Lab (WHQL) qualified, attesting to the fact that it has successfully met Microsoft standards for compatibility on Windows 98, 2000, ME, and XP beta.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the body responsible for assuring conformance of commercial products to government security standards, issued the FIPS 140-1 Level 3 certificate on September 10, 2001. Microsoft offers the Windows Logo Program to help customers identify systems and peripherals that meet Microsoft's standards for compatibility on Windows operating systems.

FIPS 140-1 Level 3 certified tokens are distinguished by enhanced user identification, key protection, interface, and self-test. With this level of certification, Rosetta USB tokens are ideally suited for identification and authentication applications such as digital signatures, network log-on, database access, and financial or healthcare applications.

Rosetta USB is available with Rosetta Executive Suite (RES) authentication software that is capable of maintaining multiple concurrent applications sessions, a unique ability unmatched within the industry. This provides a more natural and user-friendly experience and allows the user to conduct business as usual. The RES bundle supports Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Windows 2000 Smart Card Logon as well as Netscape and many VPN products.
